Coffee Brew Timer
Pick a brew method and follow the clock: every step — bloom, pour, steep, press — is timed and explained, with a beep when it is time to move on. Works on your phone at the counter.
How long should I brew pour over coffee?
A standard pour over takes about 3 min 30 sec from first pour to last drip in our guide, with a 45-second bloom first. Choose Pour Over above and the timer walks you through each pour.
How long should I steep French press coffee?
Steep for 4 minutes with the plunger up, then press slowly and pour right away. The full French press routine in the timer runs about 5 min 40 sec, including preheating and the final press.
What is the bloom, and why is it timed?
The bloom is a short first pour (about twice the weight of the coffee) that lets trapped CO2 escape from fresh grounds. Waiting 30 to 45 seconds before the main pours gives the water even contact with the coffee and a more even extraction.
How long does it take to pull an espresso shot?
A typical shot runs 25 to 30 seconds from the moment the pump starts. Much faster usually means under-extraction (sour); much slower usually means over-extraction (bitter). Adjust the grind rather than the time.
Does the timer work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no install, keeps your screen awake where the browser allows it, and beeps at the end of each step if your sound is on.
