About Onibus Coffee
Founded in 2012 by Atsushi Sakao, who discovered specialty coffee while training as a barista in Australia. The name 'onibus' is Portuguese for 'bus,' reflecting the vision of coffee shops as community hubs that connect people. Onibus was one of Tokyo's first specialty coffee shops and helped pioneer the Nordic-inspired light roast movement in Japan.
Sourcing & Philosophy
Onibus imports beans directly from small coffee-farming communities around the world, promoting sustainable and ethical farming practices. They buy coffee a year ahead and change specific beans every six months, roasting every morning with precise Japanese attention to detail.
