Chiriquí is Panama's premier coffee province, a volcanic highland corridor along the Costa Rican border that includes the districts of Boquete and Volcán. Its high altitude and rich soil turned the region into the epicenter of the modern Geisha boom after Hacienda La Esmeralda's Boquete lot shattered auction records in 2004 — today Chiriquí still produces some of the most sought-after, intensely floral and jasmine-scented coffee in the world.
